Our First Market Day – How Malohana Became Visible in Potsdam

Our first market day in Potsdam – a special moment for Malohana
Some days stay in your heart.
Our first market day at Nauener Tor in Potsdam was exactly such a day for us. After many weeks of planning, pouring, labeling, packaging, and preparing, we were out there with Malohana for the first time. Not just online, not just at home in our small candle manufactory, but right in the middle of Potsdam – with our hand-poured scented candles, wax melts, and aroma lamps.
For us, this was a very special moment.
Between excitement and anticipation
Before the market, the excitement was high. Above all, the question of how people would react to our scents was constantly on our minds.
Will they stop?
Do they like our products?
Will we have good conversations?
Will the weather be suitable?

It was that typical carousel of thoughts that arises when something is truly important to you.
On the morning itself, the excitement slowly turned into a good feeling. We set up our stall, placed the wax melts and candles, added the aroma lamps, and arranged everything to feel like Malohana: warm, calm, loving, and inviting.
When everything was ready, we stood in front of our small stall and thought:
This is truly Malohana now.
Our passion project, visible to others.
The first real contact with our customers
The best part of the day was the encounters.
For the first time, people could directly smell our scents. They could pick up the candles, discover the wax melts, and calmly explore our small world of fragrances.
And these honest reactions were incredibly valuable to us.
When someone smelled a scent and said:
"Oh, I really like this one."
or
"These are such beautiful names."
that was more than just a nice compliment to us.

It was the feeling that what we created with so much love was resonating with other people.
Especially lovely for us was the first couple who bought from us. They were already familiar with wax melts, were very interested, took their time, and engaged with our products.
When they finally took something home, that was a very special moment.
Not simply because we sold something. But because someone said: I like this. I want to take this home.
That's exactly why we create Malohana.
Scents that touch people
What particularly pleased us: there wasn't one scent that worked for everyone. Each person had their own favorite.
Some liked Moon Stillness.
Others found Desert Warmth particularly beautiful.
Summer Freshness and Island Sun also went down very well.
And that's exactly what we love about scents.
They are personal. They evoke memories, create moods, and accompany small moments in everyday life. For one person, a scent is calm and soft; for another, it's fresh and lively. Everyone finds their own scent moment in their own way.
At the market, we were able to experience this firsthand.
A day full of smiles, conversations, and gratitude
We were told that this day was a bit quieter than other market days. But that didn't bother us at all. The weather was pleasant, the atmosphere relaxed, and there were always lovely conversations.
Some people bought something directly. Others took a business card and wanted to visit our online shop later. Still others simply sniffed, asked questions, and showed interest.
That was valuable too.

Because this first market day was not just a sales day for us. It was a step outside. A moment when we could personally showcase Malohana.
We realized how wonderful it is to talk to people about our scents, explain our concept, and share why we do all of this.
Initial uncertainty turned into joy.
Excitement turned into conversations.
Our small passion project became a stall where people stopped, smiled, and took something home.
What we take away
Our first market day gave us courage.
We learned to invite people even more openly to simply browse through the scents. Without any pressure, at their leisure. Because that's what Malohana is all about: not quick purchases, but small scent moments that suit you.
We already have new ideas for the next markets. For example, we also want to bring our small companions and see which aroma lamps are particularly interesting for you.
But above all, we take away one thing:
Gratitude.
For every conversation.
For every smile.
For every honest feedback.
For every person who stopped.
And for the feeling that Malohana became visible in Potsdam for the first time that day.
Thank you to everyone who made our first market day so special.
We look forward to everything that is yet to come.
